Macy Beatrice
Weeks 13 - 24
Week 13: July 21st 3 Months Old
So the big thing this week is, how did the kids do with my first day back to work................it went great!  Tuesday was my first night back and Macy did super good.  She took the bottle with no problem and then during the day while I slept she stayed in bed with me and ate and took a big long nap too.  She was a little angel!  I was worried for nothing........now Hayden on the other hand had an interesting night.  I'll be sharing that on his update! :-)
Macy also went to her very first Birthday party for cousin Emily and then went to a jewelry party at her Auntie Tonia's house.  She was a VERY good girl at both, which proves she's got a love for parties, like her mommy! :-)
Macy seems to have grown SO much in the last week............all of a sudden she's so much more interactive, happy, and a baby now, not an infant!  I know they may seem the same but she's not just this baby that eats, sleeps and cries.  She has been so active, playing, talking and laughing.  Like her big brother, Macy loves the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes".  I'll use her feet and sometimes her hands and do the motions and she has this deep belly laugh that makes me laugh so hard!  She's also spending a lot more time on her feet which is good for those great big thighs of hers!  She'll enjoy some time in her Hop n Pop and her Jumperoo and she really does move a lot while in it, I''m amazed!  Big brother Hayden likes to show her how things work and she totally enjoys watching him play around her.  I just know they're going to be really good friends someday.  She's also been getting A LOT of kisses from him too.......at bedtime, when he leaves, and she loves it!
Macy is sleeping really good at night, getting up after about 6 hours of sleep on the first leg of the night, but then every couple of hours after that.  But those 6 hours in a row really do make you feel more rested.  Unfortunately she hasn't napped very well during the day.  She's been sleeping so light and wakes up to any little sound.  I try to lie down with her in the afternoon and then she'll sleep a bit harder but I can't always do that.  And if I don't get the opportunity to do that, then she gets a little bit fussy. But the day after my night shift it worked out great..........Hayden was napping, and Macy was nursing/napping with me, so I got to get a little bit more sleep after Dennis went to work.
Her reflux is coming and going even though she is on her medication Zantac for it.  She's still been spitting up quite a bit.  There are times when it's because she had eaten too much, but then others when it came out of no where.  So, at her 4 month appt I'm going to see if there is something else we can try, like Prilosec or something.  You can tell it's making her a bit  uncomfortable when her med isnt' working.  But the girl still likes to eat, that's for sure.  She was pretty much attached to me the 2 days before I had to go to work.  I think she sensed to get her 'fill' of nursing in before she needed to get those bottles.  I have to work 12 hour day shifts this weekend which means she'll be getting a lot more bottles, so we'll see how she does with that.......I hope she does ok, or it's going to be a rough one for Dennis!  I'm sure she'll do fine...............she has generally been so much happier lately.  I love it.........she's such a sweetie pie!
I think that's about all I will update you on.  Enjoy the pics!
Week 14: July 28th
I'm finally getting to my site again, so sorry for the delay.  Not much free time around our house these days.  Both kids are super busy and I have a full week plus of work under my belt.......and I'm already slipping on getting my updates done on time! ;-)  Last weekend was my first weekend back to work so that meant three days in a row and I did work the day shift all three days.  They're not used to see me out and about on the unit during those times but we all survived, including the kids.  Friday Dennis had to work too, so Mom and Ash did a little babysitting for us that day.  I had to go home early from work due to Hayden (see his update for the full story) but then Saturday Macy and Daddy spent most of the day together alone.  Hayden went with Gma on a playdate.  But, Macy was being a bit of a stinker and wouldn't eat for her Dad and then ran out of her presciption of Zantac.  So, the two of them came up and visited me and I fed Macy her lunch and then I spent my lunch break with them.  It was perfect timing because I was really starting to miss them and shortly before they arrived I had hoped I'd get a visit from them........and then they showed up! :-)  What was really hard was, Dennis would put Macy on the phone and then I'd start talking to her and she would start smiling and talking.  That about made me cry!  The first time Dennis said, 'what on Earth are you saying to her, she is just smiling from ear to ear and cracking up!?'  She missed her mommy!  Then Sunday Jim & Judy came up to go on a family picnic and Dennis and the kids went with.  Gma & Gpa hadn't seen the kids in a while so they were excited to spend some time with them..........and it was nice for Dennis he had some help with both of the children.  Macy slept through most of the picnic but spent a good half an hour afterward 'talking' with her Gpa Jim.  So, all in all, she was wonderful for Daddy while I was at work for the weekend.  She did better with her bottles while I was at work but she definitely made up for the time she didn't breastfeed by spending what felt like 'days' on the breast later that week.
Tuesday we went to my friend Beth's house with Shannon and the kids.  Macy took her first ride in a big kid swing and sat up so good all on her own.  She even got lots of attention from all the kids, she got hugs and kisses and they couldn't stop saying 'baby'.  I think she may even have a lil boyfriend, Beth's son Cameron couldn't get enough of her.
She's been spending a lot of time in her Hop n Pop and Jumperoo.  She's got a good view of Hayden in it and really enjoys watching him.  She's even watched a couple of Hayden's Baby Einstein videos.  He's starting to fall in love with them all over again.  It's nice to see they still keep him intrigued!  I took one of the pics below and couldn't believe how big she has gotten in the last 3 months, I had to compare the pics.
Well, that's about all I can think of for the moment, see ya!
Look how much she's grown! and how jaundice she was, yikes!
Those aren't teeth, she was just starting to spit up...:-(

Week 15: August 4th
So the very big thing that happened this past week was that Macy rolled over all by herself, from her back to her tummy!  This happened on Saturday evening while we were down in Decorah.  We were in the dining room having supper and Macy was in the living room and Judy went to go check on her and said, 'Mandy, come here!' and I knew immediately what she had done.  She'd get over before while on her side, but I honestly didn't think she'd roll this soon.  She hasn't done it sense, so it may have been a weird fluke, but exciting none the less!  We had gone down to Decorah for Nordic Fest, but decided to not take the kids to the parade as the weather was so miserably hot!  Macy did enjoy some cuddling and rocking with Gma Judy while Dennis and I went out that night.  She also enjoyed her Gma's roses as you can tell from the pic below.
She's done a pretty good job with the other babysitters of the week too.  I did some weird flip-flopping of my schedule and she did really good with the unstable routine of the week.  She took her bottles well and then even napped with Daddy.  She hasn't been too hard on everyone......for now anyway!
I have to tell you what I was told this weekened, but don't think I'm goofy for it!  My mom had a psychic come to her house on Saturday and  a whole bunch of us had readings done.  The lady (Lynn) read our faces and palms.......we met individually and could ask her questions.  So, of course I asked about my kids.  And this is what she told me about Macy, 'comical but mischevious'........and I just thought to myself, 'Lord help me!.........if Macy is noted to be the wild one and Hayden's not, what on Earth am I going to do?! '  But she said it's going to be very funny stuff, like trying to climb up on the kitchen counter and make herself a sandwich, nothing distructive or that naughty.  But she's going to be the instigator for the little one, meaning child #3!  She also told me that she is going to have curly hair, just like long ringlets.  So, it should be interesting to see what happens.  She said many other things that were right on.........a little spooky and emotional.
The one tthing Macy is doing now that I just absolutely love is, if you laugh at her she'll totally start giggling like crazy!  We just keep each other in stitches!  Uncle Chad came up to visit last week and he had her laughing so hard, Dennis had never heard her do it before.  Then the next time she saw him he would just start talking and she'd laugh just as hard.  She finds him pretty amusing I guess! :-)  He's so good to both of the kiddos, she must just have a sense of what a good guy he is!
She jabbers a lot too.  She's also reaching out for toys and has been starting to suck her thumb even more.  She's been getting a lot of kisses from her big brother and is kept busy watching him and learning lots of new things!
I think that may be all for now!

Week 16: August 11th
Macy got to go to her big brother's 2nd birthday party and she had a good time!  She got to be held a lot, see 3 of her Grandmas and even fell asleep in Gma Reckward's arms.  (pics below)  It was pretty warm outside but she did good tolerating the heat.
She's been a pretty happy baby lately, she talks and talks and squeals and her laugh just makes you melt.  She enjoys eating the most!...I know you could never tell by looking at her! :-)  But, she'll be nursing and just look up at me, smile, laugh super hard and then go back to eating.  It's the sweetest thing ever.  Most the time I don't even think she's wanting to eat, more just nurse for the joy of it because she spits out almost half her food sometimes while she's smiling at me.  Gets pretty messy, but to see those beautiful blue eyes and that gorgeous smile of hers, she can do whatever she wants!........already!  Even give me the finger, like in the last picture below!
She has lost a bunch of her hair........she still has some, but it's really short on the sides and back but she still has the long stuff on top.  It makes for a cute ponytail on top of her head........I can finally use the barrettes I bought before she was even born. Hayden doesn't like them in her hair though, he pulls them out any chance he gets.
Macy got to see our friend Amy this week who is back visiting from Maryland.  It's been since mid-May since we had seen her so Macy sure has changed a bit since she left.  We'll be getting together with her and Hutson this next week and I can't wait to see him.  He's getting to be such a big boy, I miss them very much!  I'll definitely be getting a picture of Macy and Hutson, hopefully he won't try to 'eat' her like he did last time! :-) ....he was trying to suck on her head and it looked like he was eating her.
See the pic that had us in stitches!
I am so awful, I don't think I have much more to write this week...............we're just enjoying our sweet little girl and watching her grow and grow and grow!  If you've seen her thighs, you know exactly what I mean.  My mom always jokes that she 'found a remote in a fat roll on one leg and a quarter in a fat roll on the other'.  We love em! :-)

Week 17: August 18th
Going to try to get this update done before we leave for the weekend.................
So here is the start.  The girl is ROLLING like crazy!!!  She hadn't done any rolling since the very first time so I was beginning to think it was a fluke.  But then one night I was at work and I was talking to Dennis before the kids went off to bed.  As we were talking she had rolled from her back to her belly and then immediately went from her belly to her back.  And, just a few days later, she's rolling all over......doing 3 rolls in a row and making her way across the carpet.  Once she's on her belly she really starts kicking her feet, so I'm so scared she'll be scooting before too long, which is absolutely crazy.
She jabbers all the time too along with a cute little squeal, singing kind of sound.  It's hilarious! :-)  Sometimes she does it for so long you think she's whining or going to start to cry, but she's really just talking the whole time!  She's not crying as much as she used to which is really nice too.  She's generally much, much happier than at the beginning.
She likes to play with her toys and to lie on the floor and watch everything from there.  She's always putting her hands together and moving her fingers..........kind of like how Hayden was always moving his feet when he was a baby!  She'll hold things for a little while too.  She held her bottle for a little while one day, which was great because I was busy trying to feed Hayden at a picnic/potluck we had for Amy.  Then she'll hold her rattle and 'crinkly' books.
Another great thing was that on Wednesday night, she slept the enitre night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We could not believe it!  So, I'm hoping this is a sign of things to come and that we'll be able to move her to her crib pretty soon.
I think that's about all the update for now.  Got a picture of her and Hutson that I'll be posting.  He was playing in her Hop N Pop so you don't get the full effect for how big he is compared to her...........I'm hoping to get some pictures from Amy that maybe shows their size a little better.
Macy also went to daycare for the first time.  I was just as worried about her as I was Hayden and she did AWESOME!!!  She played and ate really well.  She even napped a little bit.  I cried a teeny bit leaving her but I know she did good for them so it won't be so bad next time!
Macy has her 4 month check on Tuesday.............can't wait to see how big she has gotten.........will be reporting that to you on Friday and how our trip to the Dells was.  I'm meeting some of my college girlfriends and their kids and we'll be spending the weekend together.  It'll be quite different than our trips while we were in college, but still very fun to have everyone together!  I'll give you the scoop next week!  Take care everyone!

MNot many pictures this week......sorry!
Week 18: August 25th (4 months)
The weekend was awesome!  Macy was an absolute ANGEL while we were at the Dells.  She did tremendous the entire way there and back........she got to sit next to her gal pal, Cecelia.  And, she enjoyed all the kids and all their activity!  She slept good during the night and was a champ when it came to swimming.  She didn't fuss once about being in the water or even when she got splashed.  I have a feeling she's going to like the water as much as her brother does.  After this past week and the weekend, I've had many people tell me that I should remove the label of 'fussy baby'' because she has not fit that at all.  But, she did have her moments here and there this past week, but she seems to be outgrowing most of it.  It was Gma's birthday and Macy's 4 Month birthday on Monday......Gma was gone in Vegas but we got to go out to eat before she left.  Then on Tuesday Macy had her 4 month check up, which included 4 more shots!  The big part of the visit was when I found out how much she weighed.........now hold onto your socks, you're not going to believe this...18 POUNDS!!!!  I was guessing 16 and a half.............wow!  She was in the 97th %ile for her weight and length (25 1/2 inches).  Looking back Hayden was 17 pounds......so she's already bigger than he was.  Not a big surprise though.
She's rolling over quite a bit and she is talking up a storm.  She laughs at so much and has started squealing/screaming with delight.  She has been playing so good and wants to eat all her toys.  It's so hard to believe she's as old as she is...........it doesn't seem like 4 months have gone by, but at the same time........looking back at it......we have come a long way.
She hasn't been napping as well as she used to....which is a little hard some days when I'm trying to nap before work.  We're slowly trying to get her used to her crib.  She'll play in it and maybe take little catnaps, but nothing over night yet.  Soon, I'm sure.  I don't mind that she is still in the bassinette and then in our bed the last part of the night.
I can't seem to think of anything else to report about.......next week's report will be here soon.  Later!

Week 19: September 1st
Another fun week with Macy.  We took A LOT of fun pictures of the precious girl as she seems to know exactly what to do when that camera comes out!  She smiles when we laugh at her, especially daddy.  She has been screaming and cooing and talking up a storm.  The girl LOVES her brother more than anything.  She just looks at him with so much love in her eyes.......and the second he pays her any attention (which isn't a whole lot yet) she just is happier than can be!  She plays and plays and is starting to put everything in her mouth.  She's been drooling a bit too, but that comes and goes, so it's hard to say if maybe she's working on a tooth.  She's been having almost a daily 'blow-out' of her diaper which makes life interesting! :-)  She's still a major 'tooter' especially in the morning but she doesn't seem to have the tummy troubles quite like she used to when she was just a new baby.  She's still taking her Zantac and every couple of weeks it seems like it might not be working as well, but all in all, she's a pretty happy baby!
She did have some times this past week that she was back to her 'high need' ways, needing to be held all the time and wanting to eat continually.......someone said a growth spurt? and I thought, my god, how can she grow any more!?  My mom thinks her legs are going to pop before too long :-)!   Since she's been growing so much I've had to go through her dresser drawers and put away a BUNCH of clothes she's outgrown.  I ran across her special "going home dress" that Daddy bought her and tried it on and unbelieveably it still fits!...but just barely.  So, I had to take some pictures of her in it..........just as beautiful if not more than the day we brought her home!  She sure has changed a bit and I still can't believe how big she has gotten.  She's not  going to be a baby for much longer.
She grabs for everything including your face and has gotten really good at getting a hold of your shirt collar when you're trying to put her down.  She still gets a little time up on her feet on the Jumperoo and in her Hop n Pop.  She likes going in her 'playgym' and has been playing more and more with her toys.
She even helped celebrate Dennis birthday and got to meet some friends of ours that haven't seen her yet.  She got to spend the night at Gma & Gpas and she was a very good baby for them.
That's about all for now..........

Week 20: September 8th
We've been trying to get some formal type pictures of Macy to give out to people instead of having them professionally done and I've tried to get this done at home.  But, she's hasn't really been in the best of moods.  She keeps fighting her naps and then gets really cranky and does not want to be put down at all.  But the good thing is she has slept through the night three times this past week!  So, we're getting somewhere.....and that could be why she doesn't want to sleep during the day.  Although, when I work at night and am at home sleeping during the day, she prefers to hang out with me and eat all morning.  Then about 11 or so, she's done.... 'grazing' I call it cuz she'll just eat and sleep all morning..............and then she goes and plays with Daddy and Hayden.  She seriously LOVES Hayden.  She will watch him so intensely and then he'll start running around or playing with Haylee and she'll start laughing and laughing and laughing.   I had to catch it on video because she was laughing SO hard.......it was the sweetest sound I ever heard.  She likes all the chaos that happens around here......so when there isn't any, she has to make her own with the squealing/talking that she does.  She can hold this super high note for such a long time, I'm thinking to myself, .....'now just breathe honey!'.
I think she's going to want to eat food here soon, she's contantly grabbing at my plate and watching me eat.  She's getting to be a little bit more distracted while she's nursing too..........she's on/off, on/off, playing a small percentage of the time.  I can't imagine that she is trying to wean herself, she's such a nut for nursing......but she's getting more interested in the outside world than just focusing on the feeding.  I have a TON of milk stored away to give her once we're done nursing , I"m not quite sure when that'll be though.  It's just so much easier to nurse than to warm a bottle or thaw out frozen milk.  I gave Hayden breast milk until he was 11 1/2 months old, so I'm hoping to get her to at least that.  I so far haven't had to dip into the stored milk at all, but who knows if she's losing a little interest in nursing when we might be using the stored milk for the first time.  I'm just amazed with how much milk we have, I had to take a picture!  It's probably 3x the amount I had with Hayden, which is wonderful.......I hope we use it all before it 'expires'.
Oh, I forgot to mention Macy was seen sporting some blue and maize supporting her Daddy's favorite football team of all time, Michigan!  I got some great pictures of her in her cheerleading outfit...........I'll be posting those soon.  She looked just precious and I'm sure she'll be wearing that many Saturdays from her on out! :-)
I can't seem to think of much more, I'm super tired and need to get to bed............I can't believe how far behind I was on the updates, but so far for the kids I am for the most part caught up.  Still have some other pages that need updating too.............I'm slowly getting there.
Pictures will come tomorrow!

Week 21: September 15th  What a Doll!!!!
The pictures below are some of my favorites from the 'photo shoot' I did at home.  I wanted to put some of the stuff I learned from the baby photography class that I took when I was pregnant.  I did some fun stuff with collaging the picture and will be giving these out to family for her 3 (now 4 almost 5 month) pictures.  We never got around to getting to ProEx to get them done, so these will have to do.  I have to say I'm rather proud of how they turned out.......I had a lot of fun doing it too.  Now, I have to just get Hayden to sit still for some for his 2 year pictures........yeah, right!  I'm going to try and get the rest of the pics from our 'session' onto it's own page.  Will add a link once that is done.........yet another page I have to get done, can you believe I don't have the cabin page done yet?.........I'm not surprised at all! :-)  I'm lucky if I can get my updates done within 2 weeks nowadays! :-)
Time for another update and I haven't gotten this week's done yet..........seems to be a running trend.  I'll do next week's update now...

Week 22: September 22nd, Happy 30th Birthday Daddy!
Today is Daddy's 30th birthday.........and Macy just turned 5 months old yesterday.........what a big girl and daddy is getting old, just like mommy! :-).
Macy has been velcroed to me as of late........she does not like hanging out anywhere by herself.  But, she makes it pretty hard to not hang out with her when she acts as cute as she does.  She just talks and talks, especially at night after Hayden goes to bed.  This is when she can finally get some conversation in and coos and coos.  She has the most lovely voice.
I had to show off some pictures of how big she is getting.  No one believes me when I say she is big, if they haven't seen her in a while.  Her legs keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger.  I also believe she has got what they call a 'pa-dunk-a-dunk' in that it looks like the size of a 4 year old's butt!  It's unreal! But I love it.  She is so active and so playful that they won't stop her.  She loves to just wobble back and forth in her Hop N Pop and Jumperoo.  She plays super good in her activity gym and loves to go for walks in the sling and stroller.
I also bought her the cutest little 'rock n roll' outfit.  I'll be putting pictures of her in with next week's update.

Week 23: September 29th, Happy 50th Birthday Gpa Bredeson (on Saturday)!
Macy is doing really well.  I think we'll be starting her on cereal very soon..........she's been getting very distracted lately with eating and just plays a lot of the time......so she may be asking for something more substantial.  I wanted to wait until she was 6 months or older, but she's a big girl too, so she may be ready now.  Speaking of big girl, you'd think she'd be in her crib by now, which she still isn't.   Still hanging out in the bassinette or in the bed while she's eating and sleeping at night. She's still getting up about 1x at night but she has not been wanting to nap during the day as well.........and has become quite a night owl.  She won't go to bed until midnight some times.....................she's busy wanting to play, play, play.
She loves, loves, loves watching Hayden.  We've been trying to get them to interact more with play....so he realizes that she is fun and that he has a playmate.  She giggles and laughs when she gets any attention from him.  They are going to have so much fun before too long.
Macy has been getting all over the place too.  We'll have a little quilt down for her to play on and she is rolling off the blanket and ends up on the other side of the room.   She grabs for everything and loves all her toys.  She has lots of things to play in and keeps very busy.
She woke up yesterday with an icky runny nose so I thought she might be coming down with something.  But, she's been doing alright so far.
We went shopping at the mall too and we got her Halloween outfit.  I had been hunting for a long time and just couldn't find a super cute costume.  Well, I ended up finding a super cute Minnie Mouse dress at the Disney Store with 25% off .......so I decided I had to get it!  Hayden is going to be Mickey Mouse................and they are going to be SO cute!  I'll be getting lots of pictures of them in their costumes.

Week 24: October 6th
The big thing this week is that we decided to start cereal.  The first time she ate she didn't devour it like I thought she would, but she did ok.  The next couple of times she did much much better.  So, I have a feeling once she gets used to it she'll be eating really really well.
On Monday we went to Auntie Bobbie's house and she got to play with her cousin Alex.  He has gotten so big and is crawling all over the place.........he's a busy boy.  She really enjoyed playing with all of Bobbie's toys and loved the swing out in the swing set.  It's been a couple months (maybe) since we've been there so she's grown up a lot and is enjoying playing a lot more.  It was also super warm so she got to wear a really cute sundress that she hadn't really worn much.
Macy has been rolling around everywhere and plays so good with her toys.  She loves to watch Hayden who has learned how to make her laugh.  He's learned any little thing he does gets a chuckle so he's quick to ham it up for her.  It's so fun to see them 'playing' more.  And, every once in a while, she'll get a kiss from him out of nowhere!  Now, that is sweet!
Although she's moving a little bit more, she has not been losing any of the 'baby fat' on her butt and thighs.  The girl has some major chunk going on and it's as cute as can be.  No one believes me when I say how chubby she is.  Now, we're having a hard time finding her jeans.  I've put 12-18 month pants on her and can't get them pulled up around her thighs, hip, butt.  So, we had to resort to buying 18-24 months capris!  That way they are big enough for her butt and thighs but short enough for her legs.   I KNOW she's going to burn some of that off once she starts moving, my breastmilk is just very nutritious and she is getting a lot of calories from it!  Fat and happy I say, no other way to be......just like her mamma! ;-)   We've made a few trips to the mall lately trying to find some winter clothes that fit her.  My mom said, maybe she's just going to have to wear a lot of skirts and leggings this winter! :-)  But I think we may have found our answer with the capris. :-)
On Thursday night we went to her Godmother, Tish's surprise birthday party.  Macy was very wellbehaved and had a great time seeing all the aunties!  She got A LOT of attention from passerbys with how cute she was dressed.  And, Macy smiled at pretty much every person that would talk to her.  She would do the wide-open-mouthed smile and even cooed every once in a while!
She likes the sound of her voice too.  She makes all sorts of noises now.
I just cannot believe how big she is getting! She is almost 6 months old..........my god, I cannot believe how fast this time has gone!  It'll be time to make a new page pretty soon!
