Baby Reckward
Second Trimester
14 6/7 Weeks: October 31st

There are a few new things to report on Baby Reckward.  First of all, I had my first dream about what sex the baby is!  I had a dream it was a BOY!  I was so shocked in my dream, but they said they were 100% sure.  I'm almost convinced we're having another boy because of that dream.  I had two dreams I was having a boy when I was pregnant with Hayden.  We'll just have to wait and see..........which is another new thing to report!
December 1st is the day our big ultrasound is scheduled!~  We are SO excited to finally find out  the sex (that is if the baby cooperates!) and to see if our baby is healthy.  That's the most important............it'll be a big relief once that ultrasound is done.
I've had a couple different things done in the past week related to the baby.  I had an early one hour glucose test on Friday.  I was happy it was before Halloween, it might skew my results if we would have waited! :-)  I had the test done early because I had failed my one hour glucose with Hayden.  I haven't heard the results from that yet, which I'm hoping no news is good news!  If I did fail it, I would just have to do the 3 hour test to further evaluate for a potential risk for gestational diabetes.  I did it with Hayden and my results were fine, so I'm hoping it'll be good for this pregnancy too.  I'll know the official results by Monday afternoon.
After my glucose test, I had an appointment with Dr Traynor.  I hadn't seen him since my first appointment at 6 weeks, so I was curious to check up on things.  My weight is down 4 pounds from my baseline, but I'm sure I'll be on the 'positive-side' before too long.  My blood pressure was good and the babies heart rate was good as well...155-160.  They had to manually count it because it was so faint on the doppler that the machine wouldn't pick it up.  I think it was because the baby was moving so much too!  A little wiggle worm in there!  It was a pretty basic appointment, but I guess that's a good thing, nothing to be worried about!
Since we have a date in mind for when we'll possibly be finding out the sex of the baby, I decided I would post a Baby Poll to see what people think we're having this time around.............so don't miss out on letting us know what your guess is!  Click into our guestbook and fill out the form..............I'm curious to see what everyone thinks!
15 Weeks: November 1st
Just a little note about my glucose test results..............I FAILED!!!!  They want your glucose to be 140 or less one hour after drinking this super sweet drink (it tastes like super concentrated 7up)..........mine was 151.  So this means I have to take the Three Hour Glucose Test, which is nothing new, since I had to do it with Hayden. You drink a little bit more of the sweet drink and then get your sugar tested at one hour, two hours and then at three hours.  I think you have to pass two out of the three hours in order to pass the test.  I'll have more information on what those exact numbers are.  If you don't you're considered to have gestational diabetes, which commonly you just have to adjust your diet but some people need to do insulin.  I did fine with the 3 hour test with Hayden, so I'm not so concerned.  But I guess if I were to fail this test, I guess it's best that we find out early.  I'm not sure when that test is scheduled, but I'll definitely be keeping everyone up to date on that.
16 Weeks: November 8th
Alright, had my glucose test on Monday and have the results in!  I passed! Which I wasn't surprised, but.......I did very well they said, there wasn't one hour I failed, so I'm happy about that.  145 at one hour, 133 at two hours, and 103 at three hours...........they want you to be 155, 140, 120 ( I think!) The nice thing was while I had to sit there for 3 hours, I had a girlfriend to chat with as she was there getting her 3 hour test done too!  So, it made the time go by very quickly and I can't wait to hear what her results were.
Note much new to report, but I do have my first official 'belly shot!'.  I'm starting to show already, but not needing to wear maternity clothes just yet.  I've also posted a couple pictures of what the baby would look like right now......and a little info on how big the baby is now..........
How your baby's growing: At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your baby is about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, she'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling her weight and adding inches to her length.
17 Weeks:
Dennis sent this article to me and I've been trying to figure out how true it really is.  It seems a lot of the symptoms I had with Hayden were if you are pregnant with a girl, so.....if I have a lot of the boy symptoms now, does that mean I'm having a girl?  Try and figure out what we're having by the symptoms!  If the symptoms is green that means I'm feeling that with the current pregnancy.  If it's blue, it's symptoms I had while I was pregnant with Hayden.
If you haven't guessed already, be sure to put your vote in now!  Only a couple more weeks and we'll hopefully be able to find out!

19+ Weeks: December 1st BIG ULTRASOUND DAY!!!!
It's the night before my big ultrasound and I'm just getting a jumpstart on my new web entry!  I know a TON of people are excitingly waiting for the announcement on whether the baby is going to be a BOY or a GIRL!  I think Dennis and I are honestly more excited this time than we were with Hayden.  Most importantly, we're so excited to see the baby and get a good look to make sure the brain, heart, spine and everything else is healthy..........that's what's most important to us.  So I know it's very exciting to find out the gender, but we pray that our baby will be healthy!
I get a lot of questions on whether I have any idea..............and honestly even right now, I am going to be totally shocked either way, if it's a boy or a girl!  I have so much telling me it's a girl, but then the boy dream really threw me off.........so I just don't know.  I honestly don't know how people wait 40 weeks to find out..........I'd seriously go insane!  I did toy with the idea though.................since we had found out with Hayden, it might be kind of neat to wait until the delivery what the baby is, especially since we're scheduling a repeat c-section.  BUT..........I just now I'll be bummed out and regretting my decision as soon as the ultrasound was done.  I need to now everything that I possibly can ahead of time............it's the control freak in me! ;-)~
SO..................if you have seen this new entry...............and there's no news posted yet.........it won't be long I'm sure.  Our ultrasound is at 9:30am (thank goodness, we don't have to wait around all day!)...........and then I have a doctor's appt afterward.  SO, I'm hoping to have ultrasound pictures scanned and posted onto the webpage around noon or shortly after......so CHECK BACK!!!! :-)~
HERE ARE THE PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!! Double click to see them bigger
Lots of profile shots, I couldn't decide which one was my favorite!
A Foot & a Face
Ok, ok..........so the question that is on everyone's mind today is...............well, is it a boy or a girl?

So, now that we know what the sex is, I'm going to start writing in fun pinky-pastel colors! YEAH!

The most important thing is, she looks absolutely perfect!  All her measurements were right on, she had all her fingers and toes, her brain, heart, stomach, spine, everything looks great!  We were so relieved!
The tech was SO thorogh (sp?) and really did a great job.  But after a while, the suspense was KILLING us!  Dennis and I were both thinking, when are you going to get to the 'goods'!  Then at the very end she asked, you do want to know don't you...........so she scanned down there and as soon as I saw the shot, she had froze it right on her little privates..... I knew..............but didn't say any right away, she said, 'dad, do you have any guesses?'.......I yelled out, "ITS A GIRL!"  I was crying so hard!  I couldn't believe it!
We're both so unbelievably excited..............it seems more real now...........and it's such a relief, she looks good too!
We haven't been able to tell Dennis' parents just yet............we really, really want to surprise Judy, this will be the first Reckward girl.........the one she's been waiting for for a LONG time...........SO.....we're going to try and take them out to dinner tonight and spring it on them.  Dennis told his dad and brother the appt was cancelled.......so, I'll be sure to update you on how that goes!

That's all I have time for right now..........will write more later!
WEEK 19+ (Almost 20) December 5th
So, I've had some time to settle down from all the excitement...........and thought I better add to this page with some of the things I might have missed.
We got to tell Dennis' parents about our news that Thursday night.  Dennis called his parents that day and his mom wasn't home, so he didn't want to tell his dad right then without his mom there, so..........he fibbed a little and said that our appt was cancelled and rescheduled for next week.  But, that he wanted to take them out for their anniversary which is the 6th.  So, we had it all planned that we'd meet them in Preston and tell them our big news in person.  We couldn't wait to see her face!  So, I made up a blank card and wrote Happy Anniversary on the front.  On the bottom of the front in little letters I wrote 'and....'  then on the inside I taped an ultrasound picture and wrote
"We're happy to announce that there will FINALLY be a Reckward
GIRL joining the family in April! Finally some pink, lace and frills!"
I had kind of mixed the card with a bunch of pictures I brought down to give them and just kind of no-shalantly (sp?) said, oh and there's an anniversary card.  So, Judy hands it to Jim and I'm just dying............I wasn't sure what kind of reaction we'd get from Jim.  So, I'm watching, my heart beating fast...........and he's reading it and gets a HUGE smile on his face and tears start welding up in his eyes.  Judy is not paying any attention to Jim, who looks at me and just was grinning from ear to ear.  He slowly puts the card in front of Judy who is busy playing with Hayden in his car seat.  So, she sees the card and starts to read it.  I can see her face just get frozen............she looks up at me and says, "ARE YOU KIDDING!?"...........and I said NO!, IT"S A GIRL!  She jumped up and hugged me so hard.  She was crying and laughing...........we sort of created a little scene, but SO worth it!  She was so excited, she even had to tell the waitress we're expecting a girl! :-)
I've forgotten to add some of the little details about how we've been feeling lately too.  The tiredness phase has passed........not completely gone, but MUCH, MUCH improved.  I'd been having such awful headacheds though too, so that was not helping.  My appetite is coming back..........still having cravings though for sour & salty stuff.  But my weirdest and strongest craving has been for Macaroni and Cheese......from the box, Easy Mac, homemade, whatever, I'll eat it!  I cannot get enough of it!  I definitely have not wanted any red meat of any kind.........just chicken if any meat at all.  The coolest thing is that I've been feeling her move for over 2 weeks now.  She is really, really low compared to where Hayden was........so it's been a lot of movement when I'm sitting and leaning forward, I'm almost thinking I'm squishing her sometimes........she's punching back to let me know she needs some room.  I've also had some ligament pain and Braxton-Hicks already.  Which at my appt they said is all ok............normal for a second pregnancy and especially based on her position.  Her heart rate was 150s and she's about 11oz big.  That's an ounce bigger than what Hayden was, but my big ultrasound was scheduled a week later than it was with Haydens, so that' s why I'm guessing there's a discrepency.  I'm still down 3.5 pounds from my baseline pre-pregnancy weight......which I'm happy about, but I'm sure now that my appetite is back, that weight will be coming on..........I'm almost half way there, so I can't gain too much just yet.
I think that's about all I wanted to add about our new little one.............OH!  Another question we've been getting a lot of...............What is her name going to be?

Macy Beatrice Reckward

That is the name we had picked out when I was pregnant with Hayden.  We both just love the name Macy and Beatrice is after my great Grandma Pierce.  I was hoping to have Sanna for the first name, as the is my great grandma on my dad's side, but Dennis didn't like it.  I was also pushing for Ellery or Elise for this pregnancy.........he wanted Mikayla, really bad.  But, we both agreed on Macy especially since we had liked it not that long ago!  So, Macy it is!  And I think it'll work out great!  We'll probably call her Ms. Macy Bea!  Doesn't that just sound beautiful?
The name we had picked out for a boy was really neat too, we had Camden Scott picked out.  Dennis found Camden and soon as I heard it, I fell in love with it.  And Scott after my dad!  which I would have been SO proud to name our baby boy after him.  Who knows..............there could be a third Reckward baby someday, you just never know!

Well, goinkg to run!  Thanks for checking up on us! Take care!
WEEK 21: DECEMBER 13TH
The big thing these past few weeks is all the movement Ms Macy has been doing!  The girl is doing somersaults in there I think!  It was just a lot of fluttering that started at about 17 1/2 weeks and now she is doing full out karate chops and kicks.  Dennis actually got to feel her kick for the first time Sunday night.  It was SO cool......even though this isn't the first time for us!  It seems like this is a lot sooner than with my pregnancy with Hayden.  She is carrying SO low in my pelvis already, I don't know if that is making a difference or what.  She is still acting so differently than Hayden ever did.  I had a good couple of weeks where I started getting my appetite back and no nausea.  And, now, it's back again!  Little stinker!  Still having the same cravings........can't get enough Macaroni & Cheese and I could eat peanut butter everyday and on anything.  I'm really starting to get big too!  I'll post the family pictures we took the day of our big ultrasound.......the day we found out we're having a little girl!  You can see how excited we were for that appt......if only there was a camera when they told us it was a girl!  That would have been priceless! ;-)
Well, don't have much more to write.  Keep checking on us....we'll keep writing!
A comparison of Hayden & Macy's Ultrasound pictures:
Who do you think she'll look like?
Hayden James
19 weeks
Macy Beatrice
19 weeks
I tried to pick pictures where they were doing the same pose, hands right by their face.  Macy's pictures are definitely not as clear as Hayden's.  She looks longer than him already!  I wonder how much bigger she'll be at birth than Hayden was?
WEEK 24: January 3rd
I had an appointment last week and here are the stats.  Macy's heart rate was 158 and was measuring right on by my fundal check.  My blood pressure was 108/58 and I gained 6 POUNDS!  from my last appt.  I'm blaming it on the holidays and all the sweets but I'm only +3 pounds all together....so I guess it could be worse.  I'm hoping to not keeping up that trend but we'll see.  Ms Macy is getting SO big already too.  I'm guessing I'm about the same size as when I ws 28 weeks pregnant with Hayden.  It's hard to say if it's more because everything is stretched out from the first pregnancy so I was showing a lot quicker or is she going to be that much bigger than Hayden.
The neat thing is I got to see my belly move from her big movements for the first time over the weekend.  That was so neat.  The one thing is this girl moves non-stop and mostly at night!  Every time I wake up at night she is moving around.  She's had the hiccups a lot lately too.  Very active little girl.
We did some shopping over the weekend too and her side of the closet is really starting to fill up!  We're on the hunt for a dresser for her too.  Dennis had talked about making her one like he did for Hayden, but in all honesty we just don't have the spare time like we did before Hayden.  So, I think we'll be buying one to match his....all-in-all it'll work out fine!
My next appt is the end of January, where I will be doing my glucose tolerance test again!  I've decided I'm just going to skip the one hour test this time and go and take the three hour test right away.  My doctor was hopeful and a little hesistant to have my skip the one hour, but realistically, I think I'll probably fail the one hour (that would be my third time in life) and end up having to go to the 3 hour test anyway, so I'm going to save one appt and just jump to the 3 hour.  He's very good about letting me do what I want! :-)
That's about all for now!  I'll post a family picture to show how big I'm getting..........she sure is growing!  The next entry will be on my 3rd Trimester page!  Can you believe I'm going into my 3rd trimester already! :-)
Dennis' and my baby picture:
Who do you think she'll look like?
Week 25: (25 5/7 acutally on Jan. 16)
Don't have much new to report, but since it's the beginning of a new trimester I better put something on here! ;-) (Oops, actually the next trimester is a few weeks away!, ignore that comment) Lil Ms Macy just continues to grow and grow and kick and kick.  She seems to be more active at night which makes sense since I"m up working at night.  BUT, she is even so active she wakes me up at night when I'm not working.  I'll wake up from 4am and on and feel her just batting away in there.
She also has already started to show a preference to her daddy too.  Dennis is on a new schedule for work and comes home at 11pm at night.  She'll be pretty quiet throughout the day and as soon as he comes to bed and we start talking to each other she really starts to move around as soon as she hears his voice.  You know what they say, Daddy's Girl, I honestly think it will be that way in our household.
We're getting a lot of stuff bought for her and ready for when she is born...........Only 15 weeks away!  And when you say 3 1/2 months, that seems even sooner!  She will be here before we know it........and we're so excited!
We have all her bedding bought with her own special personalized pillow case.  She has half of her closet already filled up with dresses, pajamas, etc.  and has a little basket full of shoes, socks, and some toys.  We bought a dresser this past weekend that we will use in the kids' room as I know between the amount of clothes Hayden has and what she will have, there won't be enough room in the changing table/dresser in the room now.
Everyone asks if Hayden knows what is going on or has any idea about the baby coming.  The very cute thing he does is, we'll ask him, 'where's the baby?' and he's sign and pat his belly.  Which isn't the sign for 'baby' but he must realize Mommy has a baby in her belly!  We're still working on the 'baby' sign and hoping to turn down the aggressiveness before she is born.  I think he is going to be a great big brother and he will enjoy having a sibling to play with and grow up with!
Oh, one more thing.  I found out something interesting about Macy's middle name, Beatrice.  Well, I chose that name because of my great grandma Pierce.  Come to find out, Dennis' Grandma Reckward's middle name is Beatrice too!  So that makes her name even more special.  It's funny how that all works out!
I think that's about all for now.........like I said, not much to report which is great news!  Will write again in a few weeks after I have my 3 hour glucose test at the end of this month.  Until then.............

Week 27 3/7: January 27th

Yesterday I had my repeat 3 hour glucose tolerance test.  There were a few other pregnant women taking their test too.  There was one girl that is due the exact same day as me and I honestly couldn't even tell she was pregnant.    Everything went fine the morning of the test but had a pretty bad reaction when I got home.  Not sure if I was hypoglycemic or coming down with something, but I got really shaky, dizzy and hot.  So, after I had lunch I felt fine.............was weird, had never felt like that before.
Friday morning, I had my appt with Dr Traynor and everything looks great.  My glucose results were back.  I only failed one of the hour's test and that was the first one.  That is typically the one I end up failing usually, so not a big surprise. The other two hours results were fine.  They also checked some other blood levels while I was getting blood drawn and found out my hemoglobin is low, which I'm not too surprised.  About this stage with Hayden I was started on Iron to get it elevated.  And, I've been symptomatic as well, so I knew it was low.
As for Macy, her heartrate was 148, a bit lower than it has been............but she definitely not any less active!  She's also been causing me some rough contractions lately too.  All day Tuesday I had them on and off, but nothing regular.  I just kept drinking water and tried to put my feet up when I could.  I knew I had an appointment and thought I would just have them check my cervix just to make sure they weren't doing anything to efface or dilate me.  It got a few of my co-workers and friends worried but I felt ok.  They don't seem to be arragravated by anything and so random........but she is definitely treating me a lot differently than Hayden ever did.  It's funny, I was completely comfortable until the day I delivered with Hayden, no backaches, pelvic pressure, etc.  And, she's already beating me up quite a bit!  Should be interesting to see how different their personalities are too!
So, back to my appt.  They checked my cervix and it's still very very thick and completely closed, so no worries from what she had been doing.  She just wants her presence known I guess! :-)  I gained 2 pounds from my last appointment, so I'm up 5 lbs total.  I'm real close to what I was with Hayden..........I had only gained 8 pounds at 32 weeks with him, so she's catching up.  I'm surprised, my appetite is so different with this pregnancy than with Hayden and I'm much more active chasing after her big brother that I'm surprised I've gained close to the same amount.  They also checked my fundal height and Dr Traynor said I was measuring ok.  I asked if I'm measuring right on average or + or - in size, because I feel HUGE!  And he said that I am +2cm from the average...........but they don't get concerned unless it's +3 or more..............so I'm thinking she's going to be a big girl too!  My blood pressure gets better and better everytime I go, which I'm very happy about.  It's never been so low!  Otherwise, she's moving around well and growing so big.  According to many of the pregnancy calendars, she should be weighing about 2 pounds and about 14 inches long.  I think she's growing by the minute and it should be interesting to see how much she does weigh and how beautiful she is going to be!
That is what Dennis and I are so excited about right now................what is she going to look like?  Is she going to have lots of dark hair when she is born like I did?  Will she look a lot like Hayden?  Will she be like Hayden?  We just can't wait to hold our precious little girl!  How I can't wait to snuggle her and feed her and have her in my arms! :-)  The love you have for a baby before it's even here is just amazing!  It's so overwhelming!
I'll be posting a picture of my latest belly shot.................and you'll agree with how big I'm getting! :-)
